With four first place finishes out of five events at the Tail of the Tiger in Clemson, SC, our first head race of the fall season, AJRA Varsity Men and Women certainly made their presence known!   Our first place boats included: Men’s Junior Varsity 8+, Women’s Junior Varsity 8+, Men’s Junior Lightweight Varsity 4+, and Men’s Junior Varsity 4+.  Not only that, but in the Men’s Junior Lightweight Varsity 4+ category, AJRA had a clean sweep of the podium winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

All AJRA results:

  • Men’s Varsity Lightweight 4+: 1st, 2nd, 3rd

C'mon down, fight breast cancer, and cheer AJRA at "Row For the Cure" this Saturday, Sept 22!

AJRA at Row for the Cure

What’s better than having fun listening to music, eating and cheering our AJRA rowers on – all while helping to raise money for breast cancer research with the rest of the Atlanta rowing community?  Not much. So come on down to Azalea Park and celebrate the seventh annual “Row for the Cure” this Saturday, September 22 from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. and do just that – have a great time.

Not only will select AJRA rowers compete in the exciting “Row for the Cure All Star Challenge Race” against rowers from St. Andrews, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Atlanta Rowing Club, and Georgia State at 1:30, but our boat will also be judged on creativity with pink at 11:30 followed by food and music by local band, Fisheye at noon.

Since this year’s fundraising goal is $75,000, all AJRA rowers are encouraged to sign-up at www.rowforthecureatlanta.org  where fundraising will continue through November 3 at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga.   So let’s all come on down to the river and let the rest of the Atlanta rowing community know that we at AJRA always do our part for such an important cause.   See you there!

Come to our Parent Social Sunday, September 16!

September 4th, 2012 Posted by Club News 0 thoughts on “Come to our Parent Social Sunday, September 16!”

Calling all AJRA Parents!  There’s no better way to kick off the fall regatta season than attending AJRA’s Fall Parent Social on Sunday, September 16 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Inverness Clubhouse.   It’s a perfect opportunity to meet and talk with the coaches and to get to know other parents who will be standing at the water’s edge with you while we cheer our rowers on.  Since this is a potluck event, please bring an appetizer, a salad, or a dessert to share.  Drinks will be provided, so all we’ll need is a few nibbles to add to the fun.  Hope to see all of our AJRA parents there!

Directions to Inverness Clubhouse: Leaving the AJRA Boathouse turn LEFT onto Azalea Drive and follow along the river to the light. Stay on Azalea Drive and go STRAIGHT into the Inverness neighborhood.  Take your 4th RIGHT onto Club Drive and park by the clubhouse.
