With many AJRA boats posting medalist finishes at the John Hunter Regatta, the club brought home the Junior Team Points trophy with 681 points, besting second place by almost 300 points. The day started with huge thunderstorms, delaying the regatta by 4 hours, but luckily the officials were able to get a full schedule of racing in the second half of the day, allowing all AJRA squads great opportunities for valuable race experience.

The highlights of the day were the Men’s Varsity 8+ and Women’s Varsity 4+ bringing home first place by open water in both championship events, with each boat also qualifying through their heat with a first place finish. Both novice squads also brought home first place medals, with the Men’s Novice A 8+ and the Women’s Novice B 8+ both taking first place in their flights.

Updated Arrival Times for John Hunter Regatta

March 21st, 2013 Posted by Races & Regattas 0 thoughts on “Updated Arrival Times for John Hunter Regatta”

Parents:  Note this new information about arrival times for the John Hunter Regatta this Saturday, March 23 at Lake Lanier.

Because of the race schedule and forecast for cold, potentially wet weather, coaches will notify rowers with late afternoon races only of a specific arrival time that will be no later than noon.

Unless told otherwise by their coach,  Varsity rowers should arrive at the venue by 6am and Novice rowers by 7am.  Once all lineups are set, your rower will be told by his or her coach if they are given a later arrival time.  AJRA’s last race is now scheduled for 6:12pm, and rowers should plan to remain until boats are loaded on the trailers.

Varsity and Novice Men will need to unload the boats on Sunday at 10am at the boathouse.

Details on regatta logistics  have been emailed and are posted on the Members Only page.  As a reminder, AJRA does not provide transportation to this regatta.  There is a parking fee at the venue, although the regatta website (www.johnhunterregatta.com) says the shuttle from the satellite parking lot will be running beginning at 5am on Sat.

The Lake Lanier Venue is located at 3105 Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30506.

Look for the AJRA tents, and come cheer on our athletes.

Go AJRA!!
