The 10-day camp is designed to introduce younger, talented rowers to the Jr. National Team camp environment and develop fundamental rowing technique and boat feel.

Congratulations, ladies!

Big Day for AJRA Big Boats at SE Regionals

This past weekend, AJRA traveled to Sarasota, Florida to compete in the 2014 Southeast Youth Regional Championship against 47 other clubs from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Atlanta Junior rowers competed well, bringing home 5 medals, and placing 6th in the overall club standings. AJRA was also the 3rd place overall women’s program, and the 6th place overall men’s program, and placed the highest out of our northern sub-region (GA, MS, AL, NC, SC, TN) teams.

The highlights of the day were our men’s and women’s varsity 8+’s, both placing 3rd in the final and earning not only a bronze medal, but a bid to USRowing Youth Nationals for each boat. Both 8+’s fought tough against regional competition and had great races in order to qualify for Nationals. The men’s varsity pair also just barely missed a medal, finishing 4th in a very close final.

Additionally, three other boats earned medals at Regionals: women’s 3V 8+, women’s novice 8+, and women’s 2V 8+, which repeated as Regional Champions for the second year.

Full results from SE Regionals can be found here on USRowing’s website.
