Atlanta Junior Rowing Association was featured recently in row2k’s online photo of the day, which captured the dramatic first-place finish of our Men’s Lightweight 4+ in their second race at Youth Nationals.  Check out the photo at http://www.row2k.com/potd/index.cfm?id=1396 and remember the excitement of being on the water racing at a regatta!  Online registration for the fall season for new and returning rowers for AJRA’s Varsity, Novice and Developmental Squads will open in a few days.  Keep checking the website and sign up as soon as possible so you don’t miss out!

Welcome to AJRA’s New Head Coaches

Coach Sam GreenblattAJRA is pleased to announce that Sam Greenblatt has been named Head Coach for the club and the Varsity’s Men’s Squad, and Skye Elliot has been named Head Coach of the Varsity Women’s Squad.

Coach Greenblatt most recently was Men’s Head Coach at Sammamish Rowing in Redmond, Washington.  Under his direction, Sammamish has consistently taken boats to Youth Nationals, where their Lightweight Men’s 4+ placed first this year.  Coach Greenblatt also has coached Novice Men and served as Boathouse Manager.  He  was coxswain for four years in high school at Cincinnati Country Day School and a member of the No. 1 ranked University of Washington’s Varsity Men’s Crew Team.

Coach Elliot is one of the most successful Varsity Women’s coaches in the Southeast.  He comes to AJRA from Sarasota Crew and previously was VW Coach at Plant High School — two programs which have placed at regional and national levels.  Coach Elliot also is a US Jr. National Team Development Coach.

Both coaches will begin their positions in early August so AJRA will be ready to go when Varsity practice resumes Aug. 17.  Be sure to stop by the boathouse and welcome them to the AJRA family!
