One week into the fall season for varsity and novice rowers, and we are very excited about the direction AJRA is heading!

In early August, Skye Elliot, AJRA Head Coach and Varsity Women’s Head Coach, accepted an offer to coach at Community Rowing, Inc. (CRI) in Boston, MA.  CRI is a well-established non-profit and one of the country’s largest rowing programs, with at least 5,000 rowers registered annually.  It is a very prestigious coaching opportunity, and we are excited for what lies ahead for Skye.

Since coming to AJRA in 2011, Skye has done a terrific job leading the Varsity Women’s crew and creating a squad that is highly competitive both regionally and nationally.  He has provided vision and leadership for the club, and helped raise the profile of AJRA in the Southeast and beyond.

Going forward, Jordan Smith will be our new Varsity Women’s Head Coach.  Jordan returned to AJRA in January 2015 as our Novice Women’s Head Coach.  Jordan has coached at the elite, collegiate and junior level for more than 11 years and brings a wealth of rowing experience to the program.  Jordan has already made a significant impact at AJRA during his first season, taking our Novice Women’s crew to first place at this year’s Southeast Regional Championships in several events.

We are finalizing the details of the remaining coaching structure this week.  We are excited to have Jordan Smith step into the role as AJRA Varsity Women’s Head Coach and are looking forward to a fantastic year for all of our squads!
