We are guided by our mission statement and vision principles, which serve as the basis for development of our athletes.
AJRA’s mission is to teach the sport of rowing to Metro Atlanta youth and inspire our athletes with a best-in-class experience, through our shared core values of character, commitment, and community. Through rowing, our athletes connect with each other, their community, and their future.
AJRA rowers have been launching and recovering boats at our amazing new dock since August 2018. Being able to launch multiple shells at once means rowers spend more time out on the water. We also enjoy sharing this amenity with the Roswell community.
The total cost to AJRA was approximately $140,000, including all permit and construction expenses. We began actively fundraising in mid 2018 and the campaign was a huge success! Every contribution made a difference, and we collected the last few dollars to finish the dock in December of 2019. Thank you to everyone who supported us through this big upgrade.
Even though the dock project is complete, AJRA will have ongoing maintenance expenses. Please continue your support for the dock through a donation to our Operations/Maintenance Fund. You can contribute directly online, or contact the AJRA Treasurer to donate by mail.
VOLUNTEERS
AJRA is a parent-driven organization, from the volunteers who serve as our Board of Directors, through to each volunteer that fills a spot to make regattas run smoothly for the rowers. Because of the numbers and complex logistics, AJRA needs every family to contribute. Volunteering gives parents an opportunity to meet each other, develop an appreciation for how hard the athletes and their coaches work every day, and have fun.
Requirements: Each family must volunteer 4 hours minimum per season, per competitive rower.
Management: AJRA uses SignUp Genius to publish volunteer job descriptions and assignments. Access to SignUp Genius is posted after the season begins – look for Spring Sign Up in February/fall Sign Up in September
FUNDRAISING
Since AJRA is a not-for-profit 501c(3) organization, your donation is fully deductible to the extent allowed by law, and qualifies for employer matching gift programs, which may double your contribution. Receipts are also available for all donations to AJRA.

Help us keep up with you! If you have moved on from AJRA and have news of graduations, marriages, births, and achievements to share with your old friends, please send your info to our Alumni Chair, George Virgo ’01, so we can post it on the site.
