VM @ Chattahoochee Head Race 2011The weather was beautiful in Chattanooga this past Saturday. A perfect day to bring home 4 golds! AJRA Varsity Women 8+, Varsity Women 4+, Novice Men 8+, and Novice Women 4+ boats all won gold!   Congratulations also to the Varsity Men and Women 8+ who each won bronze.

The greatest accomplishment of the race was AJRA winning the overall points trophy for the Junior teams racing in the Chattanooga Head Race.  In the words of Coach Sam Greenblatt  “While there were certainly some great individual boat performances, especially for this early in the season, the accomplishment that stands out to me the most is winning the Team Points Trophy. Everyone is involved in winning that. No one specific team can carry the load and I believe
our results reflect that.”

Congratulations, everyone- on a great start to the season!

VM 8+  2nd, 3rd, 6th
VM 4+ 3rd, 4th, 12th
VW 8+  1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th

AJRA opened the fall rowing season by capturing seven medals at the Chattanooga Head Race on Oct. 9 — two golds, three silvers, and two bronze.  The best performing squad was the Varsity Women, who earned  first place finishes in both the 8+ and 4+ boats.  The Varsity Men 8+ placed 3rd.  Our Novice teams made an impressive showing in their first competitive regatta on a beautiful day in Chattanooga with unseasonably high temperatures.  The Novice Women 8+ took 3rd and the 4+ earned 2nd.  Novice Men placed 2nd in the 8+ and 2nd in the 4+.  Congratulations on a great start to the season.
